You said the size of cigarette tabaco shred, not the size of the diameter of a cig butt, right? In that case,,,

Could be scrappings left during final bearing fitting? Could be total failure of new babbit job? Or, could be anything in between. Drive it like you stole it, just my opinion.

Oh, and check on it in another couple hundred miles, oil is cheap!

Now if it is bigger, better have a look-see up close and personal.
