Classic seat spring woes and fixes
Some interesting bits on the seat back. Cover was replaced with new vinyl in the mid 60's and the seat back placed on a high shelf in a dry barn. On Sunday I pulled it down, thinking my Daddy would get a kick out of using it on his pickup after all these years. I guess the mice had a different idea. Anyone want to guess what was laying on the seat that made such a nice nesting area? The area immediately around the hole tells the tale.
So then I stripped off all the old upholstery and noticed a break in one of the wires. Just as I was getting ready to braze it back together, I noticed a splice at another break, and then another. 20d nails and hog rings apparently make good seat spring frame splicers back in the day. After that I figured this is a wall hanger and some lucky vendor will get to sell me a new one.
