Default Re: Harman Collins magneto and 21 stud engine and 1932 3W roadster dash

Just to clarify about the Harman Collins mag, my 6 volt system spins the 21 stud very slow. The magnets are pretty strong and usually start it when the engine is cold (has not been run). When I’ve been running the engine and it’s up to temp, and the magneto is hot (heat soaked from the engine), the coil loses a little efficiency being hot, it starts sometimes, sometimes it doesn’t with the slow turning starter. It always started when roll started. It also has a lose rotor bug that I tightened up with a little “Right Stuff” gasket maker between the shaft and the rotor.

Tom Cirello has said in the past that to run one reliably on a 6V system, we need rare earth magnets installed because of the slow cranking speed.

With that said, it’s sold as is, but I think it might be fine on a 12v car.

Anyway, here it is at a price that is basically as if it didn’t run. No spud included but they can be had at Speedway. I borrowed this spud from a dear friend.

$1200
