Charlie brought up a great point, what if your car was totaled. I'd take it one farther, what if it was stolen. How would you prove it was yours? I've thought about this myself, as I have a car in a similar situation.
Sign your name and date, and any other information some where on the car that only you and one of your love ones know about. Plus try to get the proper paper work.
