If your electric pump is operating correctly, no "non return" valve should be necessary. Turn it on before starting and let it pump for a minute or two to refill the carb. Then your mechanical pump should carry the load. The reason I use the electric pump is to replenish the fuel in the carb bowl which has been lost to evaporation caused by underhood heat following a long drive and days of parking. I'm not sure why you have a pressure gauge in the fuel line.
