Early 35 passenger cars and pickups used the same locking cap until about Feb of 1935 when the locking strip was introduced. As has be mentioned before the strap interfered with the tire sitting in the running board dip. To fix this, the cap and strap were shifted from the 6 o'clock position to the 4 o'clock position to allow the strap to clear the running board. The stainless skin and lock access cover had to be repositioned also. The attached archive drawing shows both caps. The A1 and A2 designations specify both the Hurd lock cylinder and Briggs & Stratton
