I don't know much about them, but if the vacuum port is on the base, it's nor what you want, The Load-a-matic needs a port in the middle of the carburetor body to supply "venturi vacuum". Unless what you read specifically mentioned "Load-a-matic" or "venturi vacuum", it probably won't work. I do believe that back in the day,Stromberg itself did produce such carburetors. Mercury's came from the factory with larger carburetors than Fords did for a reason.
