found a rear axle in a 41 pu that had broken the pin out of the coupling and a piece of the pin became lodged in the area around the double nuts on pinion when the truck was put into reverse it unwound the pinion nuts. sounded like the driveline was going to explode, owner swapped out the trans but noise stayed, we found the problem and fixed it.
