You can do like some gun collectors I know do. Their wife doesn't know one gun from another but she CAN count. Buy a couple crap bikes for a couple hundred bucks each (or less), then when a GOOD one comes available, you buy it and get rid of one of the junkers. If the wife checks, there is still the same number of bikes.
. Certainly would be easier to do with guns but could work with bikes.
