Are you using an alternator?
A bad diode can drain the battery.

If you have a generator, then check the cutout to be sure it doesn't stick closed. I'm using the same original cutout for over 20 years and never had a problem with it. Many repro cutouts are very poor quality, so people often use a better quality diode cutout, such as the one made by A&L.
