That turned out to be the problem. I guess after my last 100 mile drive, my crankshaft endplay increased. I had one long starter bolt and it was hitting the flywheel. I guess that after swapping out the TO bearing, I put the long bolt back in the same place. I measured the end play today, .030. Too much. It still runs fine and no growling noise.
I’ll start a new thread on fixing the crankshaft end play.
The pressure plate was way out of adjustment as well, at least I have another thing corrected.
