Default Re: 1936 Rumble Seat Step Question

This has been a very popular post but a lot of incorrect information has been posted. So lets document all that is correct. If you have a Deluxe 1936 Ford with rumble seat it will have a lower step that is threaded into the tail light stand. See my first photo from the parts book. The tail lamp stand has a threaded boss that is spot welded to the tail lamp stand from the underside. See my photos. The step which is correct for the 1936 Ford is part number 40-2454 and a NOS one is pictured in my photos. It has a 7/16"-20 straight thread on it. I am a machinist and was able to check it with a proper pitch gauge. This step threads directly into the boss on the stand. Now if you look at the underside of the step it has 4 ribs. So a special washer was supplied to make the step set level. Again see the drawing in the photo from the parts book. All info was taken from the pars book and NOS parts.
