The clevis pins for the pedals generally have a deep groove cut around the circumference of the pin head for one end of the spring to fit into. The clutch spring will connect to the pin head and then aft back to the frame as mentioned. The brake pedal actuator arm is low on the pedal assembly so the spring has to go forward and may connect to the frame cross or body framing.
