Why pull the seal unless there is a reason? Why not leave it there, wash out the old grease and pack in the new. I know, removing the seal allows you to inspect the rollers but after washing out the old grease you can get a good look too. It's not like these are prone to failure. Sometimes I think we go a little bit overboard with the way we treat these cars these days. I bet they didn't get too much maintenance back in the day, yet they kept going (proof of good design and good materials).
