Default Re: advice needed - what parts to take on a raod trip?

While MoonRaker simply asked for PARTS to take, at some point we all need a list, whether mentally or printed-edited-printed and ultimately implemented. MoonRaker? he has the best thing to take, a friend in a SUV following him.

Great suggestions from this thread:
1. Fuel pump, carb float
2. Distributor, coil, rotor, cap, some spark plugs
3. Water pump and belts
4. Special tools needed for above
5. Cardboard to lay on, rags, Vodka as hand cleaner
6. Generator, jump cables
7. Repair manual, cable ties, duct tape
8. Tire stuff + jack, wheel blocks, tow rope
9. Tools, water, oil, flashlight, test light
