Tom is on the money here I think. I have a Zenith 3 sidebowl on my Late 31 coupe and I start it on cold Oklahoma mornings much as Tom as detailed. I don't have to give it that much throttle but I do advance it just past mid point and then from there just as he describes. I do start by turning the GAV just passed the half way point on colder mornings but quickly close it to a quarter open or closed.
