Default How to repair panel truck rear door latches

I have done a few of these but this time I took pics. Maybe it will help someone out. Usually the spring is wasted or the plate at the end of the spring is gone. Pics explain it all. Drill into the little dimple on the striker with a #3 drill. There is a small groove in the rod so keep checking and don't go too far. The striker will easily twist off the rod or may need a wrench to help twist off the rod. Tap the hole for 1/4-28. Can get springs from ACE hardware. The original spring is 2.5 inches long and 7/16 diameter. I've used both a 2-5/8 or 3 inch long X 7/16 spring with good results. Assemble. Tighten set screw till flush. Spot or plug weld cover back on.
