Common sense would be to set it for the maximum and then have it regulate to the amount needed.

Marc,
In the instructions in bold print it says, "Only the generator 3rd brush assembly will be adjusted and under no circumstances should the 3rd brush assembly be set for more than 15 amps of charge".
