I use allot of 50/50 mix over a few days befor I start, but blasting them with a torch seems to work best. However, when you get a hole so bad you can't us it. I replace it with a thread inseart. Using an old head to to use as a guide for drilling out the block for the incert. After all this heating and cooling of the block, i'd have it resurfaced when it's finished. I like you little drill press there., Good luck.
