Default Re: Brake shoes

Did 2 hours of searching this morning (Google, Bing, HAMB, Fordbarn) and found this explanation. Early Lincoln Bendix brakes had both shoe lining the same length. The front shoe lining was shortened after it was determined it wore faster and needed replaced before the rear shoe. Therefore the lining was shortened on the front shoe so both wore the same.

I want to finish installing today as it is my only day off. I think I will mark the shoe length from the old shoe and install like they are. If there is a performance issue I can always cut the bonded lining down later.

Thanks for the responses very much appreciated.
