That's an interesting and informative thread, but there's one premise stated that is incorrect. The Australian bodies were unique to Australia and made in Australia, not with stampings from Canada, therefore not "Commonwealth" bodies, but rather Australian bodies. The chassis components were imported from Canada and the Commonwealth trade preferences was only one reason for that. Perhaps an equally important reason was that at that time Ford Australia was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ford of Canada, as were most Ford companies in other Commonwealth countries other than the United Kingdom. Other than in Australia, any '32 phaeton sold in the other Commonwealth countries was manufactured in and imported from Canada whose phaetons were identical to their U.S. counterparts except for some minor upholstery and top material differences. In some instances in the case of smaller countries those Canadian exports were routed though the United Kingdom before reaching their final destination.
