Update of the motor assessment. For those amused by my wrenching. Pulled the valve cover, and found all intake valves to be between .005 and .008. Cylinder 1 exhaust to be .035 plus. #2 exhaust about .025, 3 and 4 , about .020. These results led to pulling the head. Prior engine worker used a copper gasket without any sealer, so head removal went well with no real difficulty. Piston .060 over with negligible ridge. Valve inspection showed valves not to be set deep, but sharp edges on valves far beyond any useability, and seats not bad at all.
Ok, what are your thoughts on the wacky valve lash numbers. No stuck valves.
Saved the next step till later. I have a guess to explain # 1 and #2........what's yours?
