Well, not so fast. There IS a need for '
new' front, -and rear hubs Gene.
You see, there are many original hubs that have been ruined because the bearing race was allowed to spin, -or the hub bolt (a/k/a lug stud) was not installed correctly. Maybe front hub has been MacGuyvered where either the bearing race was glued back in, or the surface was pricked with a punch to hold the race secure. Generally, the hub is ruined because it does not run concentric afterwards. Also, the labor to machine the welded lug bolts out far exceeds the value of the new hub.
As far as the rear hub is concerned, beside the lug bolts being welded into those also, probably 40%-50% of the hubs out there have excessively worn hub races or taper bores.
