If you have a local A shop, could additionally ask their opinion too. See if there are certain types that are less, or more prone to issues.


My experience - I had one put on my A, was getting tired of the mess in the engine bay. Was told at one time that originally they were designed to drip at a very slow rate. At the time had a lot of rust in the cooling system, drips created a mess, plus if you are using anti-freeze, hard on paint and metal surfaces.


Mine was in pretty bad shape, had it rebuilt once, lasted only a year, could have been the rebuilder did not do a good job. At the time I did not know of the updates for the originals. So it was quicker and not that much more expensive to have a leakless put on, do not know type/brand. Have not had any issues for 5 years.
