Default Re: Water Pump Lube/Rust Protection

Water is preferred for operation in hot temps - water transfers heat from the motor into the water coolant best, better than antifreeze. Antifreeze raising the boiling point some, but typically runs hotter since it does not transfer/pull heat from the motor as good as water

Water wetter in cooling systems in good shape can reduce coolant temps by 5- 10 degrees, adds some pump lube, and using MACs 1300 provides rust protection.

True - A part soaking in antifreeze may not degrade. If enough anti freeze or water is in the oil, the oil will lose its ability to lubricate while running, things go boom.
