I did my 36 spring with CRC Dry Graphite Lube, essentially a spray paint with graphite in it. It made the leaves very slippery, and then I wrapped the whole kit in PVC underground pipe wrap tape, Wonder #41300 10 mil, x2 in, This keeps out all the grit and flexes to allow the leaves to move freely. No grease to attract and hold grit either.
