I regularly drive the car 9 miles to work and 4+ of those miles are at 50 MPH and it seems happy.
With 3.78 gears it will be running 2100 RPM for 40 miles each way and I was wondering how much strain that would be for the engine. I run full synthetic 10-40 oil that I change every 500 miles.
What do you think??

That's way overkill on the oil changes, especially synthetic. Its not 1930 anymore...oils are MUCH better now. Do what you are comfortable with though.
