If they are US nation pipe thread, you could get NPT taps for most sizes. If they are bolt thread national fine or course, the thread chasers will work or an old bolt with some flutes cut into it. Steel wire brushes like the ones used to clean battery terminals may also work. It just depends on what size they are.
