Assuming the correct guage wire is used, what's more important, the number of turns or the total length of wire used? I can either duplicate the number of turns that the old horn field coil had or measure the wire length that the old coil had and duplicate that length with no regard to the number of turns. Because it's tough to be perfectly neat with hand winding, I doubt if the number of turns and wire length could both be duplicated together. So, what's more critical, length or number of turns?
