Lots of measurements, 'cause, there was no room for error. After all the measuring I made my own template out of poster board. Pattern transferred to cowl. drilled a small, 1/8", pilot hole, checked against the template, then drilled a larger hole. The final diameter was drilled with a step drill.

The issue I have is the interior brackets (with mounting hole) are already installed so measuring to get the correct alignment is not really an option but I could always rework the bracket to match the exterior mounting position.
What lights did you install?
