Fitting the 'Quietride' Firewall pad is a bit of Work. Should be done on a bench.
The pad has to be trimmed on the outside edge and some of the predrilled holes miss somewhat. The real challenge is the instrument tunnel mounting! All the padding must be removed at the two mount areas- in order for the tunnel to fit against the firewall-either solid to the firewall or only compressing the pad face material. 'Quietride' has drilled large holes in the pad face for the firewall mount points. I used a slow turning cut off wheel to cut the insulation- it has aluminum foil layered in it. Of course I had installed the pad before learning about fitting it. Photos show some of the insulation removal. It seems to be good now. Newc
