I don't know if this will help, but a good way to adjust side mirrors is to have them pointing towards your blind spots. The rear view mirror in the center of inside the car will let you see behind you and as a car passes it will disappear in that mirror and appear in the side view mirror at about the same time. As it disappears from the side mirror it will appear in you peripheral vision. This arrangement has saved me from pulling into the lane of a passing car many times. I can keep my eyes ahead and don't have to turn around to see what is in my blind spot.
