I think it would depend if the bushing that goes in the bottom hole for the later shoe will fit the earlier shoe with the round hole since the later shoe has the hole with 2 flats. You probably know the earlier backing plate has adjustable lower pivot and the later backing plate is fixed.

That was my thought also, if the bushing with the two flats fits into the earlier shoe it would be fine but I'm not sure if they are the same size. The only parts I have loose are post war style.
