This could be due to the fact that it's a 1-wire setup or it could be wired wrong. Not sure I understand how the alternator can check out good (which I assume means it is outputting around 14+ volts) at two shops and has near zero output on the car. Sure sounds like a wiring or battery issue. At what engine RPM are you checking the battery voltage? I would check it around 2000 RPM and see what the output is. If still nothing, I would guess that there has to be a wiring problem somewhere.
