Seriously, hazard lights would be all four corners, while signal lights would be one side or the tother. You're pulling twice the amps with the hazards, so you are restricted by the size of the wires. Increase the AWG gauge to one that can handle the load.

You are probably correct about the size of the wiring. At my age, I'm not going to try and replace it. Just passed my first COVID19 test. Happy.
