Re: 1955 Ford Carb Questions
First, Is yours a 2bbl or 4bbl? I have a '55 Merc 292 in my '56 Ford as well. When I bought the engine (original, untouched) it had a Holley 4bbl teapot carb, I don't know the #s on it (still have it if you need the #s I can check them). Bored the engine to .030". Replaced the manifold & carb with the later ECZ-B and a Ford 4bbl. The trans I'm using is a Ford toploader 4spd.
Second, I'd say you're just about in the ballpark if you're getting 12 mpg. I'm lucky to get that with mine, although most of my driving is short distances.
What kind of mileage is expected with Yblocks? I'm not sure but have always heard mid teens is good.
