The hood was perhaps the nicest piece of sheet metal with this truck. However, it did not "match" the cowl - being about 1/2" too wide. My opinion? The hood was poorly assembled (welded).
Without going in to too much detail, there were numerous indications that's exactly what the issue was.
Good enough for production no doubt - not good enough for a restoration.
It took quite an effort to get this right but it had to be done.
