Default Re: New Motor Overheating

I have a 8BA very similar to yours, blower and all but 286". I have a 4 row aluminum rad which never has a problem cooling the motor. I am running 6 d initial, 26 d total but have a boost retard system which will reduce 1 to 3 degrees of boost for every pound. I usually have it set on 2d per lb of boost. At 5 lb that reduces my timing to 16d, safe for a blower motor. I think your stock rad does not have enough capacity to cool your motor. The blower in my case (B&M 142) does require more power to turn and does produce heat.
I don't think break in will help too much. I also have a 2500 cfm electric fan which rarely comes on, only in very slow traffic. Best of luck, you'll love the boost!
