The Twin Cities Plant stamped the rear crossmember with a letter and number to tell the assembly line what body and rear spring went on the frame. My 28 Phaeton has "P8" to indicate it's a Phaeton with an 8 leaf rear spring.

I never knew of other stampings on the frame, except the engine number.
