No insult. Fine mind think alike - so do $hitty ones but we don't have to talk about those.
The trick in the o-ring solution for me was the smallest available cross section O-ring. Like almost to the point where it passes through the hole while it is stretched around the ammeter. This seemed to offer the most "binding" along with "centering" the undersized repop ammeter in the hole.
I was so disappointed in the Ammeter. It looked REALLY fine - like even side by side it appeared to be a FORD ammeter. But put it in the hole it's made for shows how far off it was diameter wise.
Maybe they're better now?
