Referring to above, Bearing 40 (rear) is pressed on - and that's all that is holding it. Well, that and the shoulder where the ring 42 is and the small ring 44 to the front ahead of the shaft which both serve to locate the shaft. It's not a hard press, as I was able to force it out as a 22 year old without special tools. I think I used a block of wood and a hammer.

Bearing 8 (front) is not pressed, but is instead held by the snap collar. One of the transmissions I have done since the first I remember being concerned that this seemed quite loose and why would this be? But the split collar 9 I made sure was compressed (tight) beforehand to make it positive secure on re-assembly.
