I would get the darn thing safely running and in good working order, use the MTFCA's safety check and then find the local club in your area and seek out your questions from a good known T guru. Those fellas are out there and will'in to help.
The dash's I have seen are black, that light might be found @ a swap meet or the dreaded ebay
