Maybe it's just me, but this strikes me funny. I can see them having a problem creating raven finished studs in this manner. But then they ship them with Shakeproof washers instead of split lock washers? Did they make the batch too short to use proper lock washers?

Yep, "lets make something that looks sort of original but lets throw something in so everyone can tell it's our product"!
