To me it would depend on how often it gets run. Ethanol attacks about everything, but it is a slow process. Fuel setting in fuel tanks, gas lines, carbs, etc for long periods of time is not the best. It also absorbs moisture from the air which is also not good. Something like a carb is probably not much of an issue short term and can be repaired when or if it became an issue. I would be more concerned with fuel pumps if a ruptered diaphram would allow fuel into the crankcase or rubber fuel line that is not compatible with new fuels.

Adapters should be fairly easy to find.
