I have had my restored 1941 Coupe for 30 years. It is 6 volt. I have had no reason to convert to 12 volt. I changed my tail lights to LED as they were very dim. Fabulous now.
I put my battery on a trickle charger when I put the car away for winter. I bought the battery new in 2013 and it is still just fine. If one cares for and maintains a 6 volt system
all seems well. The only reason I can see going to 12 volt would be to upgrade to a good radio or something.
