Indeed interesting bit of history. I remember as a little kid turning a speedometer for my Dad. Not that he was being dishonest but rather he had just rebuilt an engine and wanted the milage accurate on some car he had. He had pulled the speedo and cable and had me hook it up to the electric drill while sitting on the floor and I ran it in reverse to reduce the mileage to 0.
