Default Re: duct tape

A week and 40 years ago when my thenwife was in labor with our second child I called my boss and asked if he'd fly us off the island in the middle of the night. He said to meet him at the airport in a half hour. Keep in mind he owned and flew a 1947 Aeronca sedan. About half way through the 20 minute flight (over water) I hear a very loud rapping, flapping, drumming sound coming from the side of of the plane's fabic covered fuselage. The pilot, seeing the fear in my eyes, pulls his headset away, leans towards me and calmly says two words. "Duct Tape", then repositions his head set. Sure enough, as we are waiting for the taxi which will take us to the birth clinic, we see him tear off a 5' strip of laminated duct tape which had let go at it's forward end. He then peeled off a nice new patch using a couple of rolls he kept in the storage area behind the seats. As we got into the taxi, we saw him roaring off into the night sky. And yes, we found him handy.
