Default Re: upholstery and windshield questions

Go to my profile, then to my album, "My A". It shows how I solved these problems. First, My spring! I used and old mattress spring that just happened to be the exact same width as the front spring. Just lop off a piece and duplicate the front of the spring. You will also have make an "Outrigger" ( I don't know the correct name of this piece) out of 1/4" steel rod. It's all in the pictures. The coils are smaller and there are more of them so there fore the new spring is slightly more rigid. Since people weigh a little more today than in 1930, this may be a good thing!
I'm assuming your seat wood is good. If not, it is easy enough to duplicate. I have duplicated most of mine so far at a considerable savings.
I don't know what fabric that Ford used in their pickups but why not try a local seat upholsterer and see what they would charge. In my Town Sedan, they only used Bedford Cord and Mohair. Good luck!
