The B type block I’m working, is plumbed for oil to ALL areas, including to this gear where these two slots are located. If slots are not filled, too much oil pressure will be wasted/bleed off thereby lessening pressure to more vital areas, like shell bearings , cam rods and mains. Plugging will still provide oil, but at a much reduced rate.
