Default Problems with new pressurised radiator

Problems with new pressurised radiator.

I have fitted a new pressurised radiator to my ute. It has a problem. When the water heats and expands it lifts the spring and seal and water runs overboard just like it should do. However when it cools the pressure spring is holding the rubber seal firmly at the filler neck and won’t permit the water to return to the radiator. As I see it I have two solutions.
One. Reposition the overflow pipe above the rubber seal but I don’t really want to pull the radiator again or two remove the spring and seal and make new custom seal under the cap to allow flow in and out of overflow pipe but not radiator top. That then would be unpressurised just like it was designed.
Anyone else had this problem? Anyone have a solution?
With thanks, gary
